First, navigate to the PS5 Settings page and select Accessories, followed by Controllers. Here, you can customize various settings for your DualSense controller. The most crucial setting to modify is the brightness of the controller’s indicators. Set it to “Dim.” Additionally, you can adjust the vibration and trigger settings. We recommend not turning these settings off entirely, as the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are integral features of the DualSense. However, reducing their intensity can help conserve battery life. Keep in mind that disabling all features will significantly increase your controller’s battery life.
Shortcut for Create Button

If you frequently capture video and screenshots on your PS5, consider changing the shortcut for the DualSense’s Create button. Open the Settings menu, go to Captures and Broadcasts, and access the Captures menu. Here, you can adjust the shortcuts for the Create button.
Our recommendation is to set it to “Easy Video Clips,” which simplifies the process of capturing images and videos. With this setting, you can press the Create button once to take a screenshot and twice to capture a video. Holding down the Create button will bring up the create controls menu. While there are other options available in this menu, we suggest sticking with the ones we mentioned, especially if you frequently take pictures.
Disable Trophy Videos

By default, the PS5 records a 14-second video every time you earn a new trophy. While this may seem like a neat feature, it can quickly fill up your hard drive, especially if you earn many trophies. Since the PS5’s storage capacity is limited, it is essential to conserve space.
To disable trophy videos, navigate to the Captures and Broadcasts menu in the system Settings. Then, go to Trophies and toggle off the “Save Trophy Videos” option. Additionally, you can visit your Media Gallery and delete any trophy videos you no longer want. Taking these steps will help preserve your valuable storage space.
Game Presets

The PS5 offers a fantastic feature that allows you to set game presets. To access this feature, go to Save Data and Game/App Settings in the system’s Settings. Here, you will find Game Presets and the associated options.
In this menu, you can customize various settings based on your preferences. For example, you can set the default difficulty level for the games you play, prioritize performance or resolution, and even adjust stick controls. Disable Home Screen Sounds

By default, the PS5 plays music and sound effects when navigating through its menus. While some find these sound effects immersive, others may find listening to them for extended periods unpleasant. If you fall into the latter category, you can disable these sounds.
Access the system Settings and go to the Sounds menu. From there, navigate to Audio Output and scroll down to the General section. Enable Remote Play

In this menu, you have the option to enable or disable notifications during gameplay, videos, and broadcasts. You can also toggle individual notifications on or off according to your preference. This feature is particularly useful if you like to stream your gameplay without cluttering up the screen. Additionally, you can control which friends send you notifications when they come online, allowing for spontaneous gaming sessions with specific friends.
Privacy

It is crucial to review and adjust your privacy settings on the PS5. To do so, open the Users and Accounts section in the Settings menu and click on the Privacy menu. Here, you can view and customize your privacy settings.

On the main Privacy page, you will find a section related to data collection. Sony collects data as part of its services, but you can limit the amount of data you provide. Under the “Data You Provide” section, select the “Limited” option to share only necessary data. Don’t forget to explore the Voice Data Collection menu and disallow Sony from using your voice data.
Spoiler Warnings

To avoid spoilers from game clips or images sent by your PSN friends, you can change a key setting on your PS5. Access the Saved Data and Game/App Settings from the PS5 menu and navigate to the Spoiler Warnings section. Here, you can choose to hide spoilers identified by game developers or hide everything you haven’t seen yet. Keep in mind that these settings only apply to PS5 games.
Automatically Install PS4 Games to Extended Storage

One of the limitations of the PS5 is its limited storage capacity. To overcome this limitation, consider using an external drive to store your games. Although external drives only support PS4 games at the moment, this feature is still valuable to free up space on your PS5 system.
If you have an external drive, we recommend enabling the automatic installation of PS4 games onto it. Access the Storage section in the PS5 menu and navigate to USB Extended Storage. Toggle on the “Always Install PS4 Games to USB Extended Storage” option. This feature saves you the hassle of manually moving PS4 games from your PS5 to the extended drive, which can be time-consuming.
