Adding Animated GIFs to Google Slides

Sharing animated GIFs in text messages, social media, and even in Slack provides a fun and unique way to communicate. But did you know that you can also add GIFs to your presentations in Google Slides? Whether you’re creating a slideshow for a class, a family gathering, or a professional presentation, adding an animated GIF can make it upbeat and amusing. Here’s how you can easily insert a GIF into your Google Slides presentation.

Uploading a GIF to Google Slides

If you already have a GIF saved on your device, you can upload it to Google Slides just like any other image.

Step 1: Open Google Slides and navigate to your presentation. Choose the slide where you want to insert the GIF.

Step 2: Click on “Insert” in the menu, then select “Image” and choose “Upload from computer”.

Step 3: In the window that appears, locate the GIF file on your computer, select it, and click “Upload”.

Step 4: The GIF will now be displayed on your slide at the chosen location. You can move it around, resize it, or use the Format options in the toolbar to customize it further.

Adding a GIF from Google Drive or Photos

If you have a GIF saved in Google Drive or Google Photos, you can easily insert it into your Google Slides presentation.

Step 1: Select the slide where you want to add the GIF.

Step 2: Click on “Insert” in the menu, then choose “Image” and select either “Drive” or “Photos”.

Step 3: In the sidebar that opens on the right, navigate to the location where your GIF is stored in Drive or Photos.

You can use the tabs at the top to switch between different categories like Recent, My Drive, Starred, Albums, etc. There is also a handy search box to quickly find your GIF.

Step 4: Select the desired GIF and click “Insert” at the bottom of the sidebar.

Step 5: The GIF will now be inserted onto your slide. You can adjust its position, size, and formatting, just like any other image in Google Slides.

Inserting a GIF with a URL

Another convenient way to add a GIF to your Google Slides presentation is by using its URL. If you find a GIF on websites like Giphy or Imgur, you can easily copy and paste the link to insert it into your slide.

Step 1: Choose the slide where you want to insert the GIF.

Step 2: Click on “Insert” in the menu, then select “Image” and choose “By URL”.

Step 3: Paste or enter the GIF’s URL into the provided box and click “Insert”.

Step 4: A preview of the GIF will appear. Click “Insert” to place it on your slide.

Step 5: Like the previous methods, you can now adjust the GIF’s position, size, and formatting to suit your presentation.
