Unsurprisingly, Among Us VR is an exclusive VR title. To delve into this immersive experience, you’ll need one of the following headsets: Meta Quest, Playstation VR, or a Steam-compatible VR headset (such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Valve Index). While other VR devices may receive the game in the future, for now, these are the available options to don the crewmate or impostor visor.

Trailer

The trailer commences with a yellow bean crewmate wandering down a hallway, followed by a seamless transition to the first-person perspective. Approaching a panel, they initiate a task using the new VR motion controls. While occupied, they eavesdrop on two passing crewmates, turning their head to catch a glimpse of their conversation.

The trailer then shifts to a meeting, where crewmates gather around a table, engaged in heated arguments, waving their disembodied arms. Meanwhile, the innocent yellow crewmate nervously spins their fingers, attempting to appear innocent. As the scene unfolds, all other crewmates gaze at yellow with suspicion in their eyes.

The cycle repeats, showcasing yellow performing tasks, encountering two other crewmates along the way, witnessing a crewmate’s demise, and culminating in increasingly smaller meetings, with all fingers pointing at oblivious yellow. Eventually, red approaches and ruthlessly devours the upper half of yellow, leaving them as a ghost.

Similar to the original Among Us, Among Us VR doesn’t come with a predefined narrative. Instead, it encourages you and your friends to create your own gripping narratives during each match.

Gameplay

Among Us VR retains the core mechanics of its predecessor but offers a unique VR twist. As a crewmate, your mission remains the same: complete tasks, survive, and participate in meetings to deduce the identity of the imposter(s).

The transition to first-person perspective and utilization of motion controls are the game’s major changes. The trailer reveals a narrower field of view compared to the original game’s third-person perspective. However, the advantage now lies in the ability to easily glance away from your tasks by simply turning your head. In Among Us VR, tasks involve interactive panels and utilize motion controls, which promise to be far more engaging and immersive than they appear in the video footage.

Imposters still have the ability to sneak through vents and sabotage tasks, contributing to the chaos among the crewmates. The trailer even showcases an imposter spying on a crewmate through the vent slots.

Lastly, during meetings, you can use hand gestures to identify imposters or divert suspicion away from yourself. While it may not help much if you’ve already been caught red-handed, it adds more life and personality to the game’s social interactions.
