Changing Your Look in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers players unprecedented control over their virtual island, allowing customization of terrain, waterfalls, and rivers. But it doesn’t stop there—you also have the power to change your appearance.

Getting a Fresh Look

When you first start the game, you’ll be presented with four mouth options, three noses, and three blush options—the basic features that won’t change. However, you can choose from eight different hairstyles and eight hair colors during character creation. While these options may seem limited, fear not, as the game progresses, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your choices.

As you expand your campsite and unlock the Nook Miles program, you’ll be able to purchase more hairstyles and colors. The green kiosk, once open, will offer a range of hair DIYs to enhance your collection. The Top 8 Pop Hairstyles DIY and the Top 8 Cool Hairstyles DIYs provide additional hairstyles, while the Top 8 Stylish Hair Colors DIY offers vibrant options such as turquoise, cherry red, and lilac. These DIYs come at a cost of 2,400 Nook Miles for the hairstyle DIYs and 3,000 Nook Miles for the hair colors, so start saving!

Moreover, players who time travel or are inactive in the game for two weeks will be rewarded with another hair style: bed head. To attain bed head, simply time travel 15 days ahead or refrain from playing for the same duration. When you eventually log in, your character will emerge from their house with unruly hair. While it will be straightened out and return to normal, bed head will be available as an option for future styling.

What You’ll Need for Your Transformation

Changing your appearance is a breeze with the help of a mirror. You can either craft a basic full-length mirror or wait for it to become available in the Nook Miles+ Program. Once you have a mirror, find a suitable spot in your virtual home.

Approach the mirror and press A. The game will prompt you with the option to “Change up your look.” By confirming your intent, you gain the freedom to modify your character’s eyes, mouth, nose, skin color, hair color, hairstyle, and even add custom designs like eyebrows. It’s worth noting that interacting with the mirror for the first time grants you an additional six hairstyle options, providing even more variety.

With a mirror in your possession, the power to transform your character’s appearance is at your fingertips.
