How to Autoplay and Loop Google Slides

Presentations often require an autoplay feature, allowing slides to progress automatically without manual intervention and looping once they’re finished. This is particularly useful for marketing slideshows or displaying a series of photos throughout the day.

If you’re using Google Slides, the slide creator included in Google’s free suite, you can easily set up autoplay. Here’s the most effective method, along with the desired results.

Autoplaying Google Slides

Don’t worry about autoplay options until your slideshow is complete. Once everything is in place, you can proceed with the following steps:

Step 1: Open your completed slideshow in Google Slides. Click on “File” in the upper left.

Choose File in Google Slides

Step 2: Select “Publish to the web.”

Choose Publish to Web

Step 3: A new window will open with publishing options. Note the top tabs for switching between “Link” and “Embed.” Publishing as a link is a versatile option, allowing you to share the link via email, messages, or notes apps. The “Embed” option generates code for embedding the slideshow on a webpage. For now, we’ll stick with the “Link” option.

Choose Between Link and Embed

Step 4: Locate the section labeled “Auto-advance slides.” Click the menu, and you’ll see options for advancing slides at different intervals, ranging from one second to one minute. The default setting is three seconds, which may be too fast for slides with text or other content. Adjust the wait time according to your slideshow’s requirements. For this example, we’ll increase the wait time to five seconds.

Choose an Auto-advanced Timer

Step 5: Below the “Auto-advance” section, you’ll find two options: “Start slideshow as soon as the player loads” and “Restart the slideshow after the last slide.” Enable both options to ensure the slideshow loops automatically.

Enable Looping in Google Slides

Step 6: You’re now finished. Click “Publish,” and you’ll receive a link that can be copied or shared via social media. To experience the autoplay and looping effects, simply open the link. It’s important to note that the automatic timer is set when the slideshow is published and cannot be changed afterward. If you wish to adjust the timer, you’ll need to publish a new version.

What Does Loop Audio Mean in Google Slides?

In addition to autoplaying slides, Google Slides offers a separate audio option called “loop audio.” This feature allows you to continuously loop a specific audio section, such as background music. Achieving the perfect loop may require some experimentation. You can refer to our comprehensive guide on adding and customizing audio in Google Slides.

Finally, if you’d like to add further customization to your slides, you can even draw on them. Here’s how:

Conclusion

Autoplaying and looping slides in Google Slides is a straightforward process that enhances your presentations. By following these steps, you’ll have engaging slideshows that run smoothly and captivate your audience.
