The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller has revolutionized controller design with its advanced haptic feedback, enhancing the gaming experience on Sony’s new console. While it may not offer all of its PS5-specific features when connected to a PC, you can still use the DualSense to play games on your computer. In this article, we’ll guide you on how to connect a PS5 controller to a PC, whether through a USB cable or Bluetooth.
Connecting the PS5 Controller to PC with USB
Using a USB cable is the simplest and most reliable method to connect your PS5 controller to a PC.
Step 1: Connect your DualSense controller to your PC using a USB-C to USB-A cable (similar to the one that comes with the PS5).
Step 2: Once connected, wait for Windows to detect and identify the controller.

Connecting the PS5 Controller to PC with Bluetooth
If your computer has built-in Bluetooth or you have a separate Bluetooth adapter, you can connect the DualSense wirelessly to your PC.
Step 1: To initiate pairing, hold the PS button and the Create button on the DualSense, just like you would when syncing it with a PS5.
Step 2: On your PC, navigate to the Bluetooth & Other Devices menu, click on “Add Bluetooth or other device,” and select the Bluetooth option.
Step 3: Once the connection is established, the PS5 controller will appear as “Wireless Controller” in the menu.
Using a PS5 Controller on PC with Steam
It’s important to note that not all games will natively recognize the PS5 controller on PC. However, Steam has added limited DualSense support, allowing you to use the controller with games available on its platform.
Step 1: Open Steam with the PS5 controller connected to your PC and go to the Controller menu under Settings.
Step 2: In the General Controller Settings, locate and select your PS5 controller (which may be listed as Sony Interactive Entertainment Wireless Controller). Here, you can configure each button to your preference, similar to any other controller.
If you encounter issues with your PS5 controller not working in non-Steam games, there’s a simple workaround. In Steam, click on “Games” in the top toolbar and select “Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library.” By adding your installed game to Steam, you can enjoy the full benefits of Steam’s DualSense support.
