How to Convert Apple Numbers to Excel

Apple Numbers, a spreadsheet application included with macOS, iOS, and iPadOS for free, provides convenience for Apple users. However, sharing a workbook with non-Apple users can be challenging. Fortunately, you can easily convert your Numbers workbook to an Excel file. In this article, we’ll show you how.

Convert Numbers to Excel on Mac

Converting your Numbers workbook to Excel on Mac is a straightforward process. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Open your workbook in Numbers and click on the File option in the menu bar.

Step 2: From the drop-down menu, select Export to, and choose Excel.

Step 3: In the Export Your Spreadsheet window, make sure you’re on the Excel tab.

Step 4: Select either One per sheet or One per table next to Excel worksheets. This choice determines whether you want to create a worksheet for each sheet or table in the workbook.

If you choose One per table, you can also include a summary worksheet that provides quick access to all tables.

Step 5: Optionally, you can set a password to open the exported workbook. If you choose this option, enter the password, verify it, and include a hint if desired.

Step 6: Click on Next, choose a location to save the file, edit the name and add tags if needed, and select Export.

Once you have saved the file, you can easily share or send the Excel workbook like any other file on Mac.

Convert Numbers to Excel on iPhone and iPad

If you use Numbers on your iPhone or iPad, you can export a workbook to Excel in a similar manner. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Open your workbook in Numbers and tap on the three dots located at the top right.

Step 2: Select Export and choose Excel. Then, tap Done.

Step 3: Choose between One per sheet or One per table. If you select the latter, you can optionally enable the toggle to include a summary worksheet.

Step 4: Tap Export.

If any changes occur during the export process, you will be prompted to review them. Tap Continue.

Step 5: Select a location to save, send, or share the exported file. Follow any further prompts accordingly.

By converting an Apple Numbers workbook to Excel, you can easily open the file in Excel and collaborate seamlessly with others.
