How to Create a Bed in Terraria

One of the first things you’ll want to do when you start playing Terraria is to craft a bed. It’s not only a useful tool for boosting your health generation, but it also allows you to pass time quickly by sleeping. Plus, it serves as a spawn point. In this guide, we’ll show you how to make a bed using wood. However, keep in mind that the process can be time-consuming. You’ll need to gather resources, including some that are quite difficult to find. Additionally, you’ll need to build five crafting stations in a specific order before you can finally craft a basic bed. Let’s get started!

What You’ll Need

Before we dive into the crafting process, let’s gather all the necessary ingredients. You’ll either use these ingredients as they are or smelt them in the furnace to create other items. Each step in this guide will indicate exactly how much of each ingredient you’ll need. Here are the basic ingredients you’ll require:

  • Wood
  • Cobwebs
  • Iron ore
  • Stone blocks
  • Gel

You’ll also need to build the following crafting stations in the specified order:

  1. Work Bench
  2. Furnace
  3. Anvil
  4. Sawmill
  5. Loom

Please note that if you don’t have the ingredients needed to create an item, you won’t see it in the Crafting Menu until you acquire those ingredients.

A Note About Cobwebs

Cobwebs are some of the trickiest ingredients to find. You’ll come across them in caves, spider caves, tunnels, and underground rooms and mines. Be prepared to do some exploring! It might take some time before you stumble upon a substantial amount of cobwebs. Keep digging deeper underground until you find a cavern densely filled with cobwebs.

If you want to create a bed with a unique design, such as a Bone Bed, make sure to check the list at the end of this guide. Each bed requires the same five silks, but you’ll replace the wood with the specified main ingredient.

Bed Types – Sawmill Only

There are different bed types you can create using the Sawmill. All of these beds require five silk in addition to the main ingredient. In the image above, you can see the Mushroom Bed we created in our mushroom house for our little blue friend, Bird Head.

Bed Types – Other Crafting Stations

There are additional bed types you can create, but they require different crafting stations not covered in this guide. The image above showcases the Living Wood Bed, which was created using the Living Loom crafting station we discovered while creating this guide.
