How to Easily Cancel an Xbox Game Pass Subscription on Xbox and PC

One of the standout features of the Xbox ecosystem is the Xbox Game Pass. For a monthly fee, gamers gain access to a vast library of over 100 titles, spanning from beloved classics to the latest blockbuster releases. While the Xbox Game Pass offers incredible value, there may come a time when you need to cancel your subscription. Whether you’re taking a gaming break or have already explored all the best games available, canceling your Xbox Game Pass subscription is a relatively simple process, provided you know where to look.

Canceling from an Xbox Console

Over the years, Xbox has made changes to the cancellation process for its subscriptions. However, it seems to have settled on a straightforward system that will guide you through the process. If you primarily use your Xbox console, follow the steps below to cancel your Xbox Game Pass subscription:

Step 1: Begin by pressing the Xbox Guide button at the center of your controller to open the Guide menu.

Step 2: From the window that pops up, select your profile, and then click on “My account.”

After You Cancel Xbox Game Pass

After canceling your Xbox Game Pass subscription, you will still retain access until the end of the current subscription period. This could be until the end of the month or even longer if you have paid for multiple months in advance. It’s important to note that Xbox does not provide partial refunds for prepaid months, so you’ll need to wait out the remaining time.

Once your subscription expires, any games you downloaded through Game Pass will become inaccessible unless you either renew your subscription or purchase them outright. If you decide to rejoin in the future, Xbox Game Pass will welcome you back with open arms, allowing you to once again enjoy all those games and more.
