No Man’s Sky, the highly anticipated game from Hello Games, has finally lived up to its promises. With the ability to explore a vast universe filled with endless planets and galaxies, this game offers endless entertainment. However, playing with friends can take the experience to a whole new level, providing safety against sentinels, treacherous terrain, and terrifying creatures. If you’re wondering how to add friends and play together in No Man’s Sky, you’ve come to the right place!
Adding Friends from the Start
Imagine hopping online at the same time as your friend and deciding to embark on a No Man’s Sky adventure together. When you launch the game, you’ll be presented with an option to either play single-player or join another player’s game. If you’re the one starting the game, simply click “Play Game” and proceed to the next section. However, if your friend is the host, choose “Multiplayer.”
Once you’re in the multiplayer menu, you’ll see the option to “Host New Game” and not much else. Give it a moment to load, and your friend’s name will appear, allowing you to join their game. The subsequent page will let you select the save point from which you want to start your journey.
If you have a friend on a different gaming console whom you want to play with, look at the bottom of the page. You’ll find options to “Show My No Man’s Sky Friend Code” and “Add No Man’s Sky Friend.” If you’re playing cross-platform, share your code with your friend, or vice versa, and add each other. Once done, you can select your save point and begin exploring the universe.
Joining Multiplayer Mid-Game
Now, picture yourself already immersed in the game, with a magnificent base and fascinating discoveries, when your friend logs on. Adding a friend to your group isn’t limited to the beginning of your adventure. If your friend is already online, there’s a way for them to join your game, even if both of you have already started playing separately.
To add your friend to your game, start by pressing the Options button on your controller. Then, navigate to the Options tab using R1 or L1. From there, select “Network.”
In the Network menu, you’ll have control over who can join your group and make changes to your bases. Take a moment to review these settings before proceeding. You wouldn’t want someone you don’t trust altering your hard-earned progress.
To add friends, go to the “View No Man’s Sky Friend List” option. A list of your friends will appear, and you can simply select the friend you want to join your game from the same platform. You’ll be presented with two options: either “Show Profile” to view their console profile or “Invite.” Choose “Invite” to send them an invitation and follow the prompts to complete the process.
But what if you wish to play with someone on a different gaming console? In that case, you still need to access the same screen. At the bottom, you’ll find the options to “Show My No Man’s Sky Friend Code” and “Add No Man’s Sky Friend.” To play cross-platform, one of you should provide a friend code, while the other must input it.
Lastly, while you’re engaged in Nexus missions from the Space Anomaly, other players may spontaneously join your party. They may be looking to complete the same mission or simply join you for fun. If you ever need to remove someone from your party, navigate back to the Options screen, select “Network” again, and find the list of people in your party. Hover over the person you wish to remove and select their name. This should give you the option to kick them out, allowing you to maintain control over your game.
