Logitech MX Master 3S: The Ultimate Mouse for Productivity

Retaining the Crown: Logitech MX Master 3S Review

The Logitech MX Master line has long been a favorite among users, setting high expectations for its latest iteration. With new contenders like the Razer Pro Click vying for the top spot, Logitech had to step up its game. The Logitech MX Master 3S doesn’t stray too far from its winning formula, making it the best wireless mouse you can find on the market. Let’s dive into the world of this productivity powerhouse.

Design and Comfort: A Familiar and Sleek Companion

The Logitech MX Master 3S immediately reminded me of a refined version of the Logitech G502, a beloved gaming mouse. While the design and aesthetics of the MX Master 3S closely resemble its predecessor, the small modern tweaks give it a fresh touch. The ridged thumb rest adds a subtle touch of interest, and the chrome accents on the scroll wheels make it stand out. The minimalist white version I reviewed seamlessly blends into any office environment.

If you’re already a proud owner of the MX Master 3, you won’t find enough reason to upgrade. However, as someone relatively new to this line of mice, I appreciate the MX Master 3S’s focus on ergonomics and design. The comfortable rubber-coated shell and perfectly measured width (84.3mm) make it a joy to use for extended periods. I must say, it’s easily the most comfortable mouse I’ve ever used.

Buttons and Switches: Smooth Scrolling and Silent Clicks

What sets the Logitech MX Master 3S apart from other mice is the addition of a side scroll wheel right above the back and forward buttons. This innovative feature allows for quick navigation through large Excel spreadsheets and other vast documents. The regular scroll wheel, thanks to Logitech’s MagSpeed Electromagnetic scrolling technology, glides effortlessly through content at remarkable speeds. It’s a game-changer for productivity.

The embedded gesture button within the thumb rest provides additional functionality, allowing you to perform specific actions with ease. While I personally found the gestures to be too much, they can be customized to suit your needs through Logitech Options.

The MX Master 3S features silent switches, pleasing both you and your co-workers. The Quick Click switches are a notable addition, further enhancing the overall experience. Although I couldn’t compare them directly with the MX Master 3, these switches felt responsive and satisfying to use.

Performance: Precision, Versatility, and Endurance

Logitech’s Darkfield high-precision sensor performs exceptionally well, even without a mouse pad. With a maximum DPI of 8,000, the MX Master 3S excels as a non-gaming mouse. While it may seem heavier (141 grams) compared to gaming mice, it remains perfectly suitable for casual gaming. Adjustable DPI settings in increments of 50 ensure you’ll find your ideal sensitivity.

Battery life is where the MX Master 3S truly shines. Boasting a 500mAh battery, it can last an impressive 70 days on a full charge. Even more astonishing, charging for just one minute provides three hours of usage. Personally, I find the battery life exceptional, to the point where I no longer need to carry a charging cable with me.

Our Verdict: The Perfect Mouse for Productivity

The Logitech MX Master 3S is undoubtedly the most comfortable mouse for everyday tasks. Despite minor drawbacks, such as the white model’s susceptibility to dirt and its slightly heavy weight, it remains an excellent option for productivity enthusiasts.

Are There Alternatives?

While the MX Master 3S offers an exceptional experience, the MX Master 3 is also worth considering, especially when available at a discounted price. The Razer Pro Click is another contender, though it lacks the side-scrolling wheel found on the Master series.

Longevity and Durability

Logitech promises a one-year lifespan for the MX Master 3S. However, based on personal experiences and the mouse’s sturdy build, it is likely to last well beyond that. The rubber coating may show signs of wear over time, but it won’t hinder performance.

Should You Buy It?

Absolutely! The Logitech MX Master 3S is the perfect mouse for those seeking a productivity powerhouse, particularly for handling Excel spreadsheets.
