Electronic Arts and PopCap have returned with the latest installment in the beloved Plants vs. Zombies series. Following the success of Garden Warfare 2, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is an exciting action-packed shooter featuring all your favorite characters. While the official release is scheduled for October, eager fans can get a head start on the fun right now.
Early Access with the Founder’s Edition
From today until September 30, you can join the Battle for Neighborville experience early by purchasing the $30 Founder’s Edition. As part of this edition, you will initially have access to a limited portion of the game. However, don’t worry, as more content will be made available each week leading up to the full launch on October 18. After the launch, the price of the game will increase to $40. By purchasing the Founder’s Edition, not only will you gain early access, but you will also receive exclusive rewards and access to the standard version of the game upon its release.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is set in the titular town and revolves around the ongoing battle between two factions. Each side has 10 unique character classes, including the familiar faces from previous Garden Warfare games. Joining the ranks are new additions like Nightcap, a mushroom Plant armed with spores as a weapon, and Oak & Acorn, a massive, formidable giant with smaller turrets on top. What’s interesting about Oak & Acorn is that the acorn can transform into an oak tree, carrying other acorn characters as passengers.
An Array of Exciting Gameplay Modes
The Battle for Neighborville offers various gameplay components to keep you engaged. Traditional multiplayer and “Ops” modes return, featuring all the modes that you remember from previous games. Additionally, there is the Battle Arena, a thrilling round-based four-versus-four mode that requires you to switch classes with each new round. The game also introduces Free Roam regions at the bottom of the map, filled with narrative-heavy content, and a vibrant social hub in the middle, offering a range of fun mini-games.
PopCap plans to support Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville extensively through live service content. This means festivals, new characters, maps, modes, features, and ongoing updates. As you progress, you can unlock customization rewards using in-game currency called coins. Furthermore, post-launch, there will be an option to purchase cosmetic items using a premium currency called Rainbow Stars. It’s worth noting that the game does not include blind loot boxes, and players can earn a limited amount of Rainbow Stars through gameplay.
If you’re excited to get your hands on the Founder’s Edition of Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, you can find it on Origin, the Xbox Live Store, and the PlayStation Store today. Alternatively, if you’re a subscriber of Origin Access Premier, Origin Access Basic, or EA Access, you can avail a 10% discount on the Founder’s Edition until September 30.
Correction: In a previous version of this article, it was inaccurately stated that the game would feature blind boxes. There will be no loot boxes, and the option to purchase premium currency will not be available at launch.
