The Pokémon franchise has always been known for its family-friendly RPGs. The core gameplay mechanics of battling, catching, and training Pokémon are easily understandable even for newcomers. However, with each new installment, the series has introduced more complex and deep game mechanics to cater to the competitive nature of battling monsters. Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the most challenging encounters you’ll face. These battles pit you against specially Terastallized Pokémon and can only be tackled with a team. Tera Raids offer a fresh challenge in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by pitting you and three other trainers against a formidable Terastallized Pokémon. Whether you team up with friends, connect online, or rely on AI trainers, the key is to work together. These Pokémon are significantly more powerful than their regular counterparts, and you’ll have to defeat them within a strict time limit. Each raid has its own time limit, which is displayed at the start of the battle.
Where to Find Tera Raids

Tera Raids can be found throughout Paldea by locating crystal outcroppings. These outcroppings emit beams of light, making them relatively easy to spot. They are also marked on your map. However, it’s important to note that their locations change daily, so you’ll have to constantly explore to find new Tera Raids. Once you discover a raid spot, approach it and press Y to view details such as the Pokémon you’ll encounter, the time limit, and the difficulty rating. Then, you’re ready to begin your raid!

If you’re ready to take on the more challenging Five and Six Star Tera Raids, here are some essential tips to increase your chances of victory:
- Choose your highest-level Pokémon that has an advantage against the Tera Pokémon’s type. Assess the situation before the battle and select your Pokémon accordingly.
- You don’t need to worry about healing or using items before the fight. Your Pokémon will always enter the battle with full HP and PP.
- Coordinate with your team. If you can strategize and assign roles such as attackers, buffers, debuffers, and healers, you’ll have a better chance of success.
- Don’t forget to cheer! During Tera Raids, you can choose to cheer instead of using a move. Cheering can boost your team’s offense, defense, or even heal everyone.
