Resident Evil 4 Remake: A Guide to the Egg Hunt

Among the exciting new features introduced in the Resident Evil 4 remake are Merchant Requests. These sidequests provide an opportunity to earn extra rewards that can greatly assist you in your ongoing battle against the lurking dangers. One of the earliest and intriguing requests you’ll encounter is the Egg Hunt request, given to you in Chapter 4. Don’t be fooled by the title’s Easter egg-hunting connotation; it’s all about obtaining a highly coveted Golden Egg to present to the Merchant. While you may have come across white and brown eggs before, the golden ones are a rarity. Here’s everything you need to know to successfully complete the Egg Hunt request in Resident Evil 4.

How to Complete the Egg Hunt Request

You can begin this quest once you reach the lake in Chapter 4. Before getting on the boat, you’ll notice a request note on the wall beside it. The request itself is straightforward: sell a Golden Egg to the Merchant. However, acquiring the elusive Golden Egg is the real challenge.

Fortunately, there are specific locations in the Resident Evil 4 remake where you are guaranteed to find a Golden Egg. The first location becomes accessible after you gain the ability to explore the lake freely with your boat, following a certain boss fight. Head to the east side of the lake while on your boat and make your way to the dock. In this small area bustling with chickens, you won’t immediately come across any golden eggs—only the usual white and brown ones, along with a Velvet Blue egg that you should grab. However, if you search behind some boxes and barrels near the coops, you’ll discover the first rare Golden Egg.

If you’ve already progressed further in the game and can no longer return to the lake once you reach the church area, don’t despair. There’s still another opportunity to acquire a Golden Egg. In the castle section, specifically the throne room, you’ll find a Square Lock Box in the back corner. If you’re undertaking the Disgrace of the Salazar Family Merchant Request, you’ll naturally find yourself here. If you possess the Cubic Device, you can unlock the box and obtain the second Golden Egg.

Regardless of how you obtain it, remember to take the Golden Egg to the nearest Merchant shop and sell it. Completing the request not only rewards you with 3 Spinels, but the egg alone is worth a handsome 9,000 Pesetas. It’s definitely worth the effort!
