Star Wars Outlaws will make its way to all major current-gen systems, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Trailers

Fortunately, we’ve been treated to not just one, but two exciting trailers for Star Wars Outlaws. The first was the World Premiere Trailer showcased at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023.

This captivating trailer instantly reveals that Star Wars Outlaws takes place during the original trilogy, between the events of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. However, rather than focusing on the well-known conflict, the game delves into the criminal underworlds of the Outer Rim. We’re introduced to our protagonist, Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and a fresh start. Accompanying her is Nix, her loyal alien companion.

The trailer takes us on a thrilling journey, with Kay confronting thugs in a bar while playing cards, leading to an explosive escape. Later, she meets Jaylen, who presents her with a tempting opportunity. Kay must undertake the ultimate heist, hoping to leave behind her life as an outlaw for good.

Gameplay

Just a few days after the initial reveal, Ubisoft Forward treated us to the first Gameplay Walkthrough of Star Wars Outlaws.

We already knew that this would be an open-world Star Wars game, but the trailer showcases a more confined location and introduces stealth elements. Kay demonstrates her ability to perform stealth takedowns and has Nix distract guards.

When combat erupts, Kay wields her trusty blaster, which operates on a heat system rather than traditional ammo. Encountering a shielded enemy, she switches to Focused mode, disrupting the shield and executing a devastating melee attack. Nix also contributes by retrieving weapons from fallen foes.

Kay’s health is segmented, allowing her to regenerate as long as one segment remains undamaged.

To explore the vast open world, Kay has her own Speeder, featuring a rechargeable boost meter. The Speeder also aids in combat, enabling Kay to activate a bullet-time-like mode, slowing time and dispatching pursuing enemies effortlessly.

Moreover, the trailer briefly glimpses a workbench prompt, indicating the possibility of upgrading weapons and gear. Surprisingly, once airborne, players can fully pilot the Trailblazer, engaging in thrilling dogfights with other ships. Flying seamlessly from the surface to space using Hyperdrive, players can explore countless locations. The exact number of planets available for exploration remains a mystery.
