The Ultimate Guide to Unlocking the Best Cars in Gran Turismo 7

When starting out in Gran Turismo 7, you won’t have immediate access to high-end vehicles like Corvettes and Lamborghinis. Instead, you’ll begin with a selection of modest used cars, the kinds of vehicles your parents might have used to pick you up from school. However, there are ways to unlock better cars early on in the game. In this article, we’ll show you how to obtain some of the best cars in Gran Turismo 7 before even touching the World Circuit races.

Unlocking the Best Starting Cars

To acquire the best starting cars in Gran Turismo 7, you need to visit the license center and complete all five license stages. There are a total of 50 time trials and lessons that you must complete, achieving at least a bronze medal on each challenge. Although the first four license categories are relatively straightforward, the super license can pose a more significant challenge, especially during the S-7 trial. In this trial, you’ll be driving the SP19 Super Formula/Honda ’19, a high-performance vehicle that requires precise handling and control. Be aware of their exceptional maneuverability and adjust your braking and turning techniques accordingly. Avoid overcompensating, as it can lead to loss of control.

Completing the final three license lessons will unlock the following cars:

  1. International B: GR Supra Race Car ’19
  2. Internation A: 86 Gr.B Rally Car
  3. Super: R8 LMS Evo ’19

Once you obtain these three cars, you can navigate through the menus and effortlessly dominate your races. As long as the races you participate in don’t have specific car type requirements, these three vehicles will outperform the competition. However, it’s worth noting that certain races restrict participants to road cars, excluding these high-performance race-tier vehicles.

Menu Cars: Your Key to Success

The most effective method of unlocking more road cars in Gran Turismo 7 is by completing menus for Luca in the cafe. These menus form an essential part of the game’s career mode and grant access to new cars, as well as features like multiplayer, Scapes, and the challenge tent. While completing menus doesn’t directly reward you with new cars, the vehicles you earn through this process are a significant boost to your early-game progress. Furthermore, menu cars come from various regions, encompassing different models, classes, and drivetrains. This variety ensures that you always have the perfect vehicle for every event.

Here are some notable menu cars that we’ve come to appreciate and when they become available:

  • MINI Cooper S ’05: Menu book 7
  • Mustang GT ’15: Menu book 14
  • Camaro SS ’16: Menu book 15
  • Nissan Fairlady Z ’07: Menu book 18
  • Alfa Romeo 4C ’14: Menu book 23

Utilizing the Used Car Lot

The first car you obtain in Gran Turismo 7 will come from the used car dealership located in the top right corner of the overworld map. Here, you can purchase affordable used cars, but keep in mind that the selection is limited to what Andy, the used car salesman, has available. In our experience, we found that unlocking cars through menus, licenses, and challenge tent events rendered visiting the used car lot unnecessary. There are countless cars waiting to be discovered through these other methods, making it more advantageous to invest your credits elsewhere.

For our initial car, we opted for the Honda Fit Hybrid ’14. It helped us tackle the preliminary races and complete the initial menu book. However, once we obtained our licenses, we never looked back.

One advantage of the used car lot is that certain cars cannot be obtained through Brand Central. Additionally, the available selection changes periodically, so it’s worth checking in from time to time. If you spot a car you desire but cannot afford, add it to your wishlist. When that car becomes available again, you’ll receive a notification in the used car lot, signaling that it’s time to make a purchase. Keep an eye out for the red flag that appears over the used lot in the overworld.

Brand Central: Your Gateway to New Cars

Brand Central is where dreams come true, allowing you to purchase brand new cars in Gran Turismo 7. You have the freedom to explore brands from all over the world. However, it’s important to remember that new cars come with a significant credit cost. We advise against investing in Brand Central cars until you’ve upgraded a handful of menu reward cars in the tuning shop. This way, you’ll have enough vehicles to compete without depleting all your credits on that Lamborghini you’ve always longed for. Nevertheless, we’ve identified two relatively “affordable” cars from Brand Central that have provided us with plenty of driving enjoyment:

  • Camaro ZL1: 79,500 credits
  • Ferrari F8 Tributo: 330,500 credits

While the Ferrari may be quite pricey, it’s hard to resist its allure. On the other hand, the Camaro offers a solid option that can be transformed into a competitive American racer with a few upgrades from the Tuning Shop.

You’ll occasionally receive invitations in Brand Central, inviting you to purchase unique cars when they become available. However, these invitations can be disheartening when the cars on offer cost over 1 million credits. It’s best to ignore these invitations when you’re just starting out.

By following these strategies, you’ll be well on your way to unlocking and acquiring the best cars in Gran Turismo 7. With the right set of wheels, you’ll be prepared to conquer any race that comes your way. Enjoy your journey to becoming a Gran Turismo 7 champion!
