Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: How to Trade Poes and Find Bargainer’s Statue Locations

Despite sharing the same map as Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of Kingdom offers a fresh experience with new elements. From Zonai batteries to familiar foes like Gleooks, it brings a host of new content while also reintroducing some beloved Zelda classics that were curiously absent from its predecessor. The notable return of Poes is chief among these.

Poes are iconic enemies in the Zelda series, appearing in most major Zelda games since A Link to the Past. Their absence in Breath of the Wild was peculiar, but they make a grand comeback in Tears of the Kingdom. However, unlike their ghostly enemy incarnations in previous games, Poes now serve as a valuable resource for acquiring special items. Here’s everything you need to know about Poes, including where to trade them.

What are Poes in Tears of the Kingdom?

As you explore Hyrule’s underground area, you’ll come across blue-and-white wisps scattered throughout the surface in patches. These wisps are Tears of the Kingdom’s version of Poes. These classic enemies have been transformed into collectible items in this game.

While basic Poes can be found in abundance, the underground also hides larger Poes that are more valuable. These larger Poes have the same appearance as regular ones but are slightly bigger and either red or green instead of blue. A Large Poe is worth five Poes, while a Grand Poe is worth 20. If you spot one in the distance, it’s definitely worth your time to seek them out.

How to Trade Poes in Tears of the Kingdom

So, what is the purpose of Poes? They serve as the currency of the underground world and can be used to purchase a variety of items. Some of these items are specific to the underground. To trade Poes, you’ll need to visit the Bargainer’s Statues, which you can discover through a quest on the surface or stumble upon them underground without initiating the quest.

To get started, head to Lookout Landing, the hub town situated in front of Hyrule Castle. Inside the northernmost building, you’ll find a stone statue. Talk to the statue and offer it a single Poe. This will enable you to begin trading Poes with the statues. The Bargainer’s Statue in Lookout Landing can also provide you with the locations of other statues for 100 Poes. There are a total of six statues in the underground area. Keep an eye out for a “Pray” prompt when you’re standing on a map marker, as the statues can be a little difficult to spot.

Here are the locations of all the Bargainer’s Statues if you don’t want to spend your Poes to uncover them:

Each time you encounter a new Bargainer’s Statue for the first time, you’ll gain access to new gear in their inventory. You’ll have the opportunity to obtain a Dark Link costume, Link’s iconic Breath of the Wild outfit, as well as a set of gear that’s resistant to gloom, which is essential for exploration.

Additionally, Bargainer’s Statues also sell Dark Clumps, Muddle Buds, Puffshrooms, and Bomb Flowers. You can also repurchase costume pieces and weapons (such as the legendary Biggoron’s Sword) that you obtained in the underground through the statues. Therefore, it’s important to stock up on Poes as you explore. Even if you think you have enough, you’ll always find a need for more.
